The whole thing has a slightly worn, sticker-on-a-trapper-keeper feeling, like something you would have found on a kid’s bedroom door in 1998 if that kid had a dog, a telescope, and a suspiciously advanced sense of sarcasm.
The joke is simple, but it has teeth. We have reached the point where even the smallest members of the household are assigned cosmic branding before they can hold up their own head. Baby is fussy? One of our designers had been babysitting her niece, who was wearing a onesie covered in suns, moons, and tiny celestial doodles. The family golden, an elderly girl named Cricket, kept parking herself beside the crib like a security guard with excellent bangs. Every time the baby made a dramatic noise, someone in the room blamed astrology. Cricket would sigh, look at the adults, and return to her post. Back at the studio, the phrase “tiny star sign” landed on the whiteboard and refused to leave. We tried longer lines. We tried meaner lines. We tried one about a rising sign and a rising blood pressure, which made us laugh for exactly nine seconds and then feel tired. The shorter version won because it sounded like something a dog would say if dogs could read birth announcements and roll their eyes at the same time.
The mood, pastel cosmic, but make it canine
We wanted the colors to feel cheerful and a little retro, not mystical in a velvet-curtain way. Mint green keeps it bright. Lavender outlines give it that playful bark of attitude. Peachy letters warm it up so Celeste does not look too severe, even though she is clearly thinking, please stop asking me if the baby is compatible with the cat.
The circular layout was intentional too. It feels like a seal, a sticker, or a tiny club emblem. If you are wearing it, you are announcing membership in a very specific group, people who love dogs, tolerate astrology jokes, and understand that the pet was probably the first child anyway.
