He is half burrito, half beach oracle. Behind him, a sunset drops into rolling waves, all warm orange, navy blue, and cream, giving the whole piece the feeling of an old vacation decal from a station wagon window. Except this vacation has a pill organizer, chicken treats in every pocket, and a dog who needs to be carried over wet grass because he “doesn’t do dew.”
The blanket was important. We wanted it to feel like the one every rescue house has, the not-quite-matching, always-in-the-wash blanket that has comforted fosters, senior dogs, anxious puppies, and one dramatic beagle during fireworks. The flowers and stripes make it cheerful, but the dog’s face tells the real story. He has that freshly rescued expression, equal parts “thank you for saving me” and “I will now be rearranging your entire personality.”

Why we made it
This design started after a Saturday adoption fundraiser where one of our friends arrived with a folding table, a donation jar, three foster puppies, and the thousand-yard stare of someone who had already been peed on before 9 a.m. She kept calling herself “just the transport,” while simultaneously remembering every dog’s food sensitivity, favorite toy, and preferred cuddle angle. At one point, a tiny spaniel mix refused to come out of a blanket unless she was holding him. Someone joked, “That’s rescue mom energy,” and the phrase stuck to us like peanut butter in a Kong.
Back at the shop, we kept circling the idea of making rescue look as iconic as a surf club patch or a vintage campground logo. Because rescue people do have a club, even if the membership card is usually a vet bill. The sunset became the symbol of the second chance. The waves became the chaos. The blanket became the home. And the little dog became every saved soul who immediately becomes the household manager.
