Description

Some dogs fetch. This one is demanding proper attribution before anyone gets to touch the ball again. Put Her Name On It is our new BarkShirt drop for every dog-loving servant who has watched a woman do the work, break the record, fill the seats, carry the team, save the meeting, win the argument, and still somehow get described as “inspiring” instead of “the reason this whole thing happened.”

The corgi at center court has notes

The artwork catches a corgi in full arena mode, planted on a court with the kind of confidence usually reserved for a point guard with eight assists and zero patience. She is wearing a bright, fitted athletic jersey, little shoes, and the expression of a dog who absolutely heard what you said from across the room. Behind her, a comic-book blast of orange, pink, and gold shouts the message in giant letters: PUT HER NAME ON IT.

That blank placard at her feet is the best part. It is not empty because we forgot something. It is empty because she is waiting. Trophy? Put her name on it. Record book? Put her name on it. Court, award, byline, office, stadium, group chat apology? Put her name on it. The joke is that this corgi is not giving a motivational speech. She is working the scorer’s table with a clipboard and a legal pad, and she has already circled the missing credit in red.

We named her Birdie, because she has the compact body of a corgi, the focus of a referee, and the soul of a sports columnist who has seen enough nonsense for one lifetime. Birdie is not mad. That would be too simple. She is calm, smug, and correct, which is much more dangerous. If you need a dog t-shirt about giving women credit, Birdie is already standing under the lights, tapping the sign.

Where the line came from

This one started in the least glamorous BarkShirt way possible, over takeout boxes, a muted game on the shop TV, and three people arguing about why certain achievements only become “cultural moments” after somebody spends months pretending not to notice them. We kept hearing the same soft-focus language everywhere: “growth,” “energy,” “movement,” “phenomenon.” All true, all fine, all suspiciously allergic to naming the woman who actually did the thing.

Then somebody at the table said, “Put her name on it,” while stabbing a dumpling with the moral force of a Supreme Court dissent. The room went quiet for half a second, which is how we know a shirt has entered the building. It had the right rhythm. It sounded like a chant, a correction, and a caption under a very tired dog’s face.

We tried it with a retriever first, but retrievers forgive too quickly. We tried a poodle, but the line got a little too gala. The corgi won because corgis understand ceremony. They are short, regal, and constantly underestimated by people who should know better. Birdie needed to look like she had been benched for being “a distraction,” then returned in the fourth quarter to make everyone regret the paperwork.

The mood, loud, proud, and slightly over it

The color palette is deliberately loud. The orange and magenta feel like arena lights, old-school trading cards, and the halftime graphic package from a channel that just discovered women can sell tickets. The halftone texture gives it that pop-art snap, while the dark shirt makes the whole panel hit like a poster slapped on a locker room door.

It is snark, but not cynicism. Birdie is not asking for charity. She is not begging anyone to be nicer. She is saying the scoreboard already exists, the stats are public, the work is visible, and the plaque is embarrassingly blank. This snarky corgi sports shirt is for the people who want the credit to match the effort, preferably before the confetti is swept up.

Wear it to the game, the watch party, the office, the school pickup line, or anywhere someone starts a sentence with “Not to take anything away from her, but…” Birdie will handle the rest with one stare and four very serious little paws.

Put Her Name On It is live now. Grab yours, serve the dog, and let the record show who earned the headline.
