He is curled on a quilted pillow, fluffy tail tucked in a perfect swirl, ears painted in warm ribbons of cream, gold, teal, and coral. He looks sleepy, yes, but not defenseless. This is a dog who can hear a cheese wrapper from three rooms away while appearing to be deep in dreamland.
Around him, the artwork blooms like old school tattoo flash, with roses, stars, anchors, a tiny bird, and curling banners that declare the whole arrangement with dramatic seriousness, MY NAP BUDDY BARKS. This dog character is named Captain Biscuit around the studio, although he has never earned a nautical rank and would panic in ankle-deep water. Captain Biscuit believes every nap requires security. He is the bodyguard of blankets, the curator of cushions, the sworn enemy of doorbells. If you fall asleep beside him, he will keep watch. Unfortunately, his version of keeping watch includes announcing every bicycle, squirrel, and mail carrier with the lungs of a stadium announcer.

Why We Made It
The seed for this one came from a real BarkShirt afternoon, the kind where everyone claims they are “just resting their eyes” after lunch. One of our team members had brought in her older rescue, a cream-colored little gentleman who had spent the morning accepting compliments like a retired celebrity. By 2 p.m., he was asleep on a sample pile, chin on a folded hoodie, snoring with impressive confidence.
Then a delivery truck tapped its brakes outside.
He erupted. Not a casual bark. A full opera. The kind of bark that says, I was born for this emergency, and this emergency is cardboard. After thirty seconds of chaos, he climbed back onto the hoodie, sighed, and immediately resumed sleeping as if he had not personally shattered the office peace.
Someone said, “That’s my nap buddy. He barks.” We wrote it on the whiteboard before the coffee was even cold.
From there, the design practically knew what it wanted to be. Not a plain sleepy dog. Not a simple joke.
